Daily Prompt : Howl at the Moon

“Follow your inner moonlight; don’t hide the madness.” — Allen Ginsberg

Do you follow Ginsberg’s advice — in your writing and/or in your everyday life?

I hide the madness on the internet. I hide the madness with friends. I don’t hide the madness in private journals/writing that, hopefully, no one will ever see. I discovered in the beginning that sharing madness on the internet is a dangerous thing. Or, inconvenient. Other people’s tomfoolery is just so obnoxious. Comments about Why did you do that? or What does that mean? drive me insane.

You can disguise the madness in poetry and art. But, putting the madness out there in a real, everyday form is not wise.

  1. I guess it depends on what you define as madness. As I just mentioned on another blog, my madness feeds my creativity and that helps my expression so I’m happy to put my madness out there 😉
